Fable II Thoughts

Well, I picked up Fable II yesterday and played for quite some time. I really enjoyed the game very much. I have explored much of Albion and found a lot of treasure with the help of my trusty sidekick, Mable. That’s what I named my dog. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the dog/sidekick when I first heard about it, but I must say, I really like the incorporation of the pooch. The closest thing I can compare it to is Agro, your horse from Shadow of the Colossus. Of course, Agro was much cooler, but the dog is a nice little bonus. It makes using the spade much easier than the first Fable. So far the story is great the action, gameplay, fighting system, and characters are top notch.

The only negative thing I have so far is this. After playing for a few hours I decided to quit and fire up the Pub Games to join my Pub character to my new character in Fable II. The transfer went smoothly, except when I paid off my debt. In the Pub Games I had earned around $10,000 and had a debt of a little over $3,000. When I paid the debt off it subtracted it from my $10,000 which I fully expected. But it ALSO subtracted it from the money I had earned up to that point in Fable II. So I actually lost around $6,000! That was not cool. Oh, don’t worry about any items you may have won in the Pub Games. The first time you play a pub game in Fable II you will receive all of your items then.

All in all, I give this game very high marks so far. I am probably around a 1/4 of the way thru from what I have heard and it’s been a lot of fun. Can’t wait to try the co-op with a friend. Also, I strongly suggest that you play the “games” on the Fable II website before you get very far in the game. Eventually you will come to a treasure chest which is a one-time deal. Whatever items you win from the story and chicken kickin game will show up in that chest only once! And just so you know, you can get all 5 items from the “story” game!

  1. Fable II is a very good game! After completing it however, I feel it was too bugged and rushed (for the Xmas release) for it to be considered a GREAT game…

Still though, I recommend it to all with a 360!

  2. Thanks for the post. I still have not finished it. Fallout 3 took over when it came out. I do want to finish it though, especially with the new DLC coming out now. The only major disappointment to me was the co-op. Being the henchmen really stinks.
