New (and final) DLC For Fallout 3 Announced

Bethesda has just announced another piece of DLC for Fallout 3. Entitled Mothership Zeta, this new content takes you into outer space. Beamed aboard this mothership, you must fight your way to the bridge in order to escape. The new content includes more new weapons, new gear to suit up in and more enemies (the alien variety this time).

This comes as a surprise to me as I thought Bethesda said that Point Lookout was to be the final piece of DLC. As of now, I have completed Operation Anchorage, Broken Steel and as of yesterday, the Pitt. I have yet to download Point Lookout, but I am told it’s the best of the DLC yet. Truthfully, the DLC for Fallout 3 has been good, but not great IMO. Once again, I can’t stop comparing Fallout 3 to Oblivion. Fair or not, the DLC for Oblivion was great. It wasn’t just more glorified side quests, but actual stuff that really helped your character. Like the Wizard Tower, Battlehorn Manor, etc, etc.

With that said, I am really excited about Mothership Zeta. It’s about time aliens got involved in the whole Fallout 3/50’s motif. While I won’t get started on how I think it’s getting ridiculous paying $10 a pop for this stuff, it keeps the game fresh.

Here’s a few shots to wet your appetite…and the Official Fallout Site.

Fallout 3 Operation:Anchorage Completed

Today I downloaded Operation Anchorage and took it out. I haven’t touched Fallout 3 in a few months and I have been eagerly waiting to play some DLC for this game.

Overall, I was very pleased with this first new content. I loved the setting and the missions. Being able to set up your very own strike team and command them was great fun. And I loved the new enemies. Especially the Dragoons and the Chimeras.

The ending seemed slightly abrupt. I expected a whole mission inside the Chinese Base, but hey, it was fun to “talk down” the Chinese General. (I had to replay that part just to see if I COULD actually fight him.)

I had to look in the forums to understand what the dead body hacked to pieces was all about. Apparently, it was an android. That series (Gary) was a failure. He couldn’t be used in the simulation. So, they hacked off his arm with PipBoy to try to get it to work. No success. So, this is where you come in. You are very talented, like to kill things and you have a PipBoy on your wrist. Makes sense.

Anyway, I didn’t get the perk that is available with this DLC. To get it, you need to find all 10 Intel Cases. I will leave it at that.

All in all, Operation Anchorage was great fun. I just can’t stop comparing Fallout 3 to Oblivion. Oblivion had outstanding DLC. Hopefully Bethesda can pull off better and better DLC with Fallout 3. Please, can we have something comparable to the Dark Brotherhood quests?? Please?

Last week I completed Gears of War 2 and this past weekend I also beat Fallout 3. Both games were excellent by my standards. Gears of War 2 really surprised me. It actually lived up to the hype in my opinion. There were some moments that were completely over the top. But, they were great fun.

Fallout 3 was awesome too. Although, I still keep comparing it to Oblivion. In my opinion, Oblivion is a much better game than Fallout 3. I know I need to give Fallout 3 more time and wait for Bethesda to release some downloadable content. Then, after that, maybe I can compare the two games in a fair light.

Look for my full reviews of both of these games soon. In the meantime, if you enjoyed the first Gears of War and Oblivion, both these games are a must have!

I know this is kinda old now, but this is one of my most highly anticipated games of the year. I know the boys at Bethesda won’t disappoint!
